There's going to be another "Furious" movie, and according to ComingSoon.net, it looks like production is eyeing Cuba as its next pit stop.

The website reported that the globe-hopping franchise, which started in Los Angeles and has since then traveled to Miami, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Abu Dhabi, is now preparing to take fans to another dreamy destination.

Reports that initially came from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter said that Universal Pictures is in the process of gaining permission to shoot a scene for the upcoming "Furious 8" in Cuba.

The studio wrote in a statement, "Universal Pictures is currently in the process seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the Fast & Furious series in Cuba."

What is especially interesting is that if production goes ahead with filming on location in Cuba, "Furious 8" will be he first Hollywood studio film to shoot in the country since the 1960s.

Variety also noted that the company's decision to shoot in Cuba is part of their plans to gain a foothold in the Latin American country. Since Obama's administration has finally normalized relations, and the decades-long embargo has been lifted, it is the perfect time to add Cuba to the list of exotic locales that have been a staple in the "Furious" films.

According to senior policy adviser to the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council John Kavulich, "Cuba is a land that many know about, but few have seen. These productions are hoping to capitalize on the increased interest in Cuba."

He also mentioned, "The Cuban government is supportive and the U.S. government is supportive. Licenses for television and motion picture productions are bilateral issues and they will receive bilateral support."

Principal photography will take place in the US -- New York and Atlanta, Georgia. However, THR said that there are two other locations that the "family" could go to as well. These locations are rumored to be previously-unexplored Russia and Iceland.

"Furious 8" was announced by star Vin Diesel last year at the CinemaCon, adding that he, along with co-stars Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, and Kurt Russell, are expected to return, as well as other regulars like Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky, and Lucas Black. It will be directed by F. Gary Fray (Straight Outta Compton) and is said to be set for an April 7, 2017 release date.
